Windsor Castle Guard Schedule April 2024

Confirmed dates, times and details of the Regiments and Bands scheduled to change the Windsor Castle Guard in April 2024.

IMPORTANT: Easter Court now ends on the 3 April meaning that will be the last day for Quadrangle Mounts.
The ceremony on Thurs 4 April will be down in Lower Ward and there will be no ceremony on Friday 5 April 2024.

The March

Where to see the Guards and Band marching to and from the Windsor Castle Guard Mount.

Route, Map & Pictures

Timing:

10:45 - New Guard step off from Victoria Barracks on Sheet Street and march through the Town Centre to Windsor Castle.

11:00 - The Changing the Guard Ceremony then takes place inside Windsor Castle .

11:25 - The Old Guard step off for the march back to the barracks.

Changing the Guard Schedule Updates

Schedules for the Changing the Windsor Castle Guard are normally confirmed around the 20th of the preceding month.
Dates and Times can change, sometimes at short notice,when the Guards are required for operational or other ceremonial duties, or as a result of Castle closures.

Dates the Windsor Castle Guard are scheduled to change are normally confirmed, by the British Army, around the 20th of the preceding month.

Provisionally the Windsor Castle Guard are expected to change on Tuesday's, Thursday's, and Saturday's in 2023.

Normally there is no Windsor Castle Guard change ceremony on Sundays

Wet Weather Cancellations

The Windsor Castle Guard change can sometimes be cancelled in wet weather.

When a Wet Mount is called the Guards march to and from the Castle without musical support.

The decision to call a Wet Mount is not made until the last minute, which means we cannot update our website in time to help people en-route or already at the Castle.
